Running - Days 3 and 4

So, the running is still happening. No giving up. I'm told that once you get past the first couple of weeks, it starts to get easier. I really want to do it, so maybe that helps.

Day 3 - 1.5 Miles
Day 4 - 3.5 Miles (on the treadmill, ugh)

Congrats! I picked up running about 9 years ago and HAD a blast. Though a word of warning. You need to be aware of how much you can push your body. A few years ago I spent 3 months training so I could START this running program (created for Navy Seals!... out of my league just a bit?) anyway I could easily push from 1 to 2 to eventually 4 1/2 miles in one run. Then one day I pushed out 6.125 miles in one run! My feet, sides and lungs were fine but I pushed my right knee to far and that was the last time I ran that year. :(

I hope to get back into running again this year and this time I'll look into keeping my legs safe.

Regarding the hope of gaining energy, its true but don't expect to see results for a couple months.

I'm sure Terri can help you with techniques though the one big one I learned that helped tremendously was any pain in your side is the result of exhaling as you land on your feet. If you can get into the practice of exhaling before you land on your feet you will prevent additional pressure from working your sides to death.

For the marathon...best of luck to you! I've heard if you can consistently run 6 miles you can finish a marathon. I've had friends who pulled this off by running a mile, walk a bit, run a mile, walk a bit, etc.

Sorry if you knew all of this already or have some other technique that work for you. Just wanted to share my personal experiences.

Good luck hanging with those Kenyans!
